Week of March 28, 2016

        This week the children will work on the following skills:

  • Identify, decode, and read words with /ou and /ow/
  • Continue to work on identifying and using adjectives correctly
  • Using adjectives to compare by use  er, est
  • Continue to work on comprehension and read fluently
  • Identify the author's point of view within the story
  • Continue to write narrative by writing a story in sequence
  • Reviewing addition/subtraction number families
  • Learning about how Moses sent twelve spies to the Promised Land Numbers 13-1-14:35
  • Identifying the duties of a grandparent
  • The children will write about their grandparents using adjectives within their story.
Please use this week to review your child's sight words.  If your child cannot find their sight words please let your child's teacher know.

Monday-Write weekly spelling words in a complete sentence

REMIND YOUR CHILD THAT THEY SHOULD READ AT LEAST 2 AR BOOKS OR 1 CHAPTER EACH WEEK.

Week of March 21, 2016
 
     This week the children will work on the following skills:

  • The children will decode and read words with /or/, /ore/ 
  • The children will continue to work on retelling, sequencing, and identifying main ideas within a story.
  • Students will write a narrative about the Easter Story using a bubble map
  • Students will review abbreviation
  • Students will learn about the  Crucifixion and Resurrection of Christ
  • Students will learn about even and odd numbers
  • Students will review number families of addition and subtractions
  • Students will continue to work on counting money
  • Students will enjoy making crafts for the Easter
  • Students will make magnetic silly putty.

Happy Spring!

Happy Spring Break! March 7-11

We hope everyone has a safe and relaxing Spring Break. See you in a week!

Week of March 14-18
After Spring Break we will work on the following skills:

  • identifying, decoding, and reading words with /er/,/ur/,/ir/, and /or/
  • identifying and generating rhymes
  • reading to find cause and effect
  • reading stories about the moon and sky
  • identifying money and the value of coins
  • addition and subtraction
  • retelling stories
  • using adjectives in writing


Our Bible story will be Moses and the Ten Commandments from Exodus 19-24.

In Science we will begin exploring Magnets

In Social Studies we will talk about Saint Patrick's Day. For St. Patrick's day fun, we will be having a tasting of green foods. Each child will need to bring in a green food on the 17th to share with the class. Some examples of this would be broccoli, grapes, celery(and dip), limes, kiwi, green apple slices, lettuce, lime jello, lime sherbet, honeydew melon, sour cream and onion potato chips, etc. Your child's teacher will send a reminder about this when we return from break, Send your teacher an email to let her know what green food you plan to send.
