Week of February 5, 2018

        The child really enjoyed celebrating the 100 Days of School.  There was a lot of learning that took place while they had a great time. This week we will continue working of the following skills.

  • Identifying, decoding, and reading words with long i, /y/,/igh/, and /ie/.
  • Begin a study of learning about famous African Americans.
  • Write narratives about famous African American, weather, and the 2018 Winter Olympics.
  • The children will learn about famous United State symbols.
  • The children will continue to work on reading for fluency and understanding.  They will be reading the following stories: "Creep Low, Fly High", "Meet the Insect", and Hi, Fly, Guy"
  • Review cause and effects within a story.
  • The children will be introduced to the following sight words:  caught, flew, know, laugh, listen were, beautiful, and fancy.
  • The children will add and subtract two digit numbers and work word problems
  • The children will continue to work on adding numbers with sums of 20 or less
  • Read and interpret data on a graph
  • Continue to work on place value
  • The children will begin assessment of sight words, reading for fluency and comprehension, and math skills.
  • Weekly Bible story will be about Baby Moses.

WEEKLY REMINDERS:
  • The children will go on a field trip to see a play about Charlie Brown on Tuesday, February 6th.  Your child will need to bring a lunch to school.  PLEASE PUT YOUR CHILD'S LUNCH IN A BAG WITH THEIR NAME ON IT.  We will have drinks for all children.
  • Donuts with Dad-February 15th
  • Muffins with Moms-February 16th
  • Please review your child's work that they bring home daily and sign your child's folder.
  • Continue to review math facts and sight words at home.
  • February 19th Teacher In-Service (No School for Students)
