Week of January 29, 2018
This is the week the children have been waiting for since school began in August. This week we will celebrate 100 Days of School. The children will celebrate 100 Days of School on Wednesday, January 31st. Each child should bring a zip lock bag with 100 items in it. Your child will use these items for some of the activities we will be doing on Wednesday.
The children will work on the following skills this week.
- Identifying, decoding, and reading words with long /o/, /ow/, and /oe/
- Identifying main idea, details within the story, characters, plot, and setting within a story.
- Continue to work with prefix
- Review open syllables
- Continue to work on reading multi-syllable words
- Write several narratives about 100 Days of School
- Addition of two digit numbers
- Continue to work on place value and number sense.
- The children will be introduced to the rain cycle
- The children will work with making snow flakes within the STEM lab
- Read and discuss weekly Bible story "Joseph Forgives His Brothers"
- Students learn about Groundhog Day

Classroom Reminders:
- 100 Days of School will be Wednesday, January 31st. Your child will need to bring something for the 100 Day of School Snack. A note was sent home on Thursday stating what your child should bring.
- Children should continue to study their math facts and sight words.
- AR Requirement: Your child should read at least 1 chapter book a week or three books on your child level.
