Week of December 2, 2019

       We  are praying that all of our families are enjoying the Thanksgiving break.  We are working on planning  what the children will be doing when they return back to school.  We have a lot of skills that the children will learn and fun activities that they will take part in.
      The children will work on the following skills:
  • Identify, blend, and read words with /u/oo, u sound
  • Identify, read and write contractions with not
  • Put words in alphabetical order by the first letter
  • Retelling and rewriting a story in sequence using a class flow chart
  • Continue to work on reading with fluency and comprehension
  • Write narratives in sequence
  • Continue to work on learning spelling bee words
  • Writing a rough draft for our class book on "Why I am Thankful"
  • Begin a unit of study of winter celebrations 
  • Identify and read the following high-frequency words: after, buy, done, every, soon, work)
  • Identify different subtraction strategies
  • Continue reviewing addition strategies
  • Science: Experimenting with states of matter.

Weekly Bible Verse:   Genesis 42:8 "And Joseph knew his brethren, but they knew him not."

                   FIRST GRADE SERVICE PROJECT
       The first graders will be giving toys to children less fortunate.  We are asking each child to bring in a unwrapped toy not more than $10:00.  It would be great if your child could bring these toys to school on December 2nd.

  • Christmas Party December 16th
  • Field Trip to Public Library/Lunch at Chuck-E-Cheese December 18th
  • Game Day/Pajama Day-December 19th
  • Book Fair - December 9th thru 13th
  • Winter Break - December 20th thru January 7th
  • We will no longer allowed to warm student's lunch.
