Week of August 26, 2019

      The children are excited about their upcoming field trip to Cheekwood.  We will be reading fairy tales to the children this week to prepare them for what they will see at Cheekwood. .  
      We have completed assessment in reading and math.  If you would like to talk about how your child did you may contact us to schedule a conference.  It will only take 5 minutes.

       This week the children will work on the following skills:
  • Reading and discuss the weekly Bible Story about Adam and Eve.
  • Our weekly memory verse will be: So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he him; male and female created he them.  Genesis 1:27
  • Identify, decode, and read words with /Ll/ blends.
  • Read for fluency and understanding.
  • Identifying the main idea and details within a story.
  • Discussing the characters and setting of a story.
  • Writing simple sentences. 
  • Continue to work on sight words.  This week our high frequency words are: be, come, good, pull.
  • Place value 1-50
  • Working with hundreds charts,
  • Number fluency
  • Exploring manipulatives
  • Introducing math and literacy centers
  • Identify and discuss animal habitats.
  • Identify community helpers and how they help our community.
  • Continue to write using good letter formation and spacing.
  • Learning about community helpers

REMINDERS:

  • Field trip to Cheekwood  on Wednesday.  Please to read the note that was sent home on Friday carefully if you are planning on attending the field trip
  • Please review the your child's binder each day and sign their planner.
  • All children will have a Bible, Spelling, and Reading Test on Friday. 
  • All children will need to have earphones. (not ear plugs)  Please put your child's name on the earphones and put them in a zip lock bag.
  • Students lunches are $5.00 this year.
