Week of August 8-12

Welcome to First Grade!

Our first few days of first grade have gone very well. We will continue to work on learning how to be first graders over the next few weeks. We will also be reviewing and assessing what we have already learned.

This week:
  • We will continue learning routines and procedures.
  • We will get to know our classmates better.
  • We will work on handwriting and correct letter formation.
  • We will be reviewing and practicing the sounds each letter makes.
  • We will begin learning words with short a sounds.
  • We will identify rhyming words.
  • We will identify and count numbers 1-30.
  • We will begin the study of the Days of Creation from Genesis 1.
  • We will talk about "Me" and begin a narrative about ourselves.
  • We will learn about the summer olympics.
  • We will begin center rotations.
  • We will meet our Specialty teachers and go to Music, Guidance, Computer, Library, and Spanish.
  • We will check out a book from the library.
Spelling and Bible tests will not begin this week.

If you have not returned the forms from your parent packet, please do so ASAP.

Remember to sign up for the remind app to get texts from the classroom. Instructions for this are in your parent folder.

Please send a pair of headphones for your child to use with the tablets. These will be kept at school.

It is going to be a great year!
