Week of August 29, 2016

       The children appears to all have adjusted to first grade and are excited about all the things that they are learning.  This week the children will work on the following skills.

• Identifying the sound of  short /o/ and read words and sentences with short /o/
• Read stories and identify the main details and sequence the stories using picture cards
• Put words in ABC order
• Identify the continents and oceans
• add using a number line, touch points, and adding on
• Work addition word problems
• Read and discuss weekly Bible story "Noah's Ark"
• Write using good letter formation and spacing
• Write a narrative about  "Noah's Ark"

Weekly spelling words: hot, hop, log, they, hog, too, flop, block, lot, top

CLASSROOM REMINDERS:

• All money needs to be returned by Monday, August 29th for school wide fundraiser.
• Your child should read at least 3 AR books each week.  Help your child remember to bring their AR (library book) back to school each day.  Your child should read their book to an adult at home.
• Please put your child's name on all jackets and sweaters
• Remember to review your child's papers daily and sign their binder daily. Take all graded papers out of your child's binder
