Week of October 28, 2019

      This week the children will be preparing for their harvest party.  The  party will be on Thursday.  The party will begin at 1:30.  Parents are invited to come and help out.  Please let your child's teacher know if you will be coming.  Your room mother will contact you on what you will need to send to the party.

This week the children will be working on the following skills below:

• Addition of doubles
• Identifying the unknown number that equal to 10.
• Adding doubles plus 
• Adding 5 in any order
• Identifying, decoding, sorting, and reading words with long /a/ silent e.
• Identifying, writing, and using contractions in writing.
• Reading, retelling and rewriting a story in sequence.
• Reviewing sight words
• Reading for comprehension and fluency.
• Completion of nonfiction text
• Identify man made and nature

Week of  October 21, 2019

      Wow! The children had a great time at Lucky Land Farm.  We would like to thank all the parents that came to help chaperone the children.  

       This will be another busy week as we prepare for the lower school vocabulary parade.  All children are ask to participate in this event.  The vocabulary parade will be this Friday, October 25th. The parade will begin around 8:15.  Your child should dress as a word.  Your child should have the word and the definition  on the costume or on a piece of  paper attached to the costume.  Parent's are welcome to come.  If you have any questions please contact us.  There are lots of ideas on Pinterest.

• Addition strategies (counting on making a ten flip flopping number lines.
• Earth science (natural and unnatural.
• Identifying, decoding and reading words with /ch/, /tch/, and /ph/

• Write a narrative about signs of fall.
• Write using good letter formation and spacing.
• Read for fluency and understanding.

Week of 10-14-19

        The children will begin the week by learning about Christopher Columbus. The children will learn about his voyage to American and why it was important to make the voyage.

         Below are the skills that your child will be working on this week:

• Continue to work on addition strategies.
• Continue to learn on animal habitats.
• Read and discuss the voyage of Christopher Columbus.
• Identify, decode, and read words with closed syllables.
• Continue to work on reading for fluency and comprehension.
• Continue to work on writing sentences using good letter formation and spacing.
• Recall and rewrite a story in sequence.
• Identify, decode, and read words with /ng/, /sh/, /th/.
• Read and discuss weekly Bible story "Abraham Servant Finds a Wife for Isaac'
• Read and discuss the process a seed goes through before it becomes a pumpkin by reading the story "Pumpkin, Pumpkin".

The children will be going to the Lucky Land Farm on Friday.  Parents are welcome to come.  Your child can ride with you.  If you are going on the field trip and your child will be riding with you please let your child's teacher know as soon as possible.  You will be able to meet us at the farm and your child will be counted as present.  However, you MUST let us know.

The children will need to bring a sack lunch and drink.  They should wear jeans and a EH t-shirt.

The bus will be leaving the school around 8:15.
