Wow! I can't believe March is almost here. We have a lot to do as we prepare for our yearly achievement test and for the Multi-Culture Program. It is very important that you continue to allow your child to read daily at home. Your child should continue to review sight words and addition/subtraction math facts if they do not know them. If you did not have a conference with me and would like to please contact me and schedule a conference.
This week we will work on the following skills:
- Identifying, decoding, and reading words with /ir/,/er/, and /ur/
- Identify and read high frequency words: another, climb, full, great, poor, through, leaped, and stretch
- Read word and write words with the inflectional ending -er
- Work on listening skills and answer comprehension questions.
- Read and identify the main idea and details within a story.
- Write narrative about a famous African American
- Write their autobiography
- Solve addition/subtraction word problems
- Review addition/subtraction facts
- Identify fractions 1/2, 1/3, and 1/4
- Begin a unit of study on stars and constellations.
- Identify and read about famous African Americans and their accomplishments
- Read and discuss weekly Bible story "God Makes a Path Through the Red Sea
- Recite and discuss the weekly memory verse: "Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Psalm 150:6
