This week the children will have a busy week as they prepare for their Thanksgiving Day feast, going to see the Little Mermaid at the Nashville Theater, and practicing for the 1st/2nd grade play.
The children will be working on the following skills:
- Identifying, decoding, and reading words with long /o/ and long /u/ with the silent e.
- Identifying and reading words with 1,2, and 3 syllables
- Reading stories about long ago and now
- Retell and rewriting stories about Thanksgiving
- Preparing for their Thanksgiving feast
- Review addition/subtraction facts
- Solving addition/subtraction word problems
- Identifying and recognizing shapes
- Using a Venn diagram to compare and contrast schools of long ago and Thanksgiving today and Thanksgiving long ago
- Listening to the story of "The Little Mermaid" and identifying the main idea and details within the story.
- Reading and discuss weekly Bible story ""Jacob Goes Home"
- Discuss and recite the weekly memory verse: Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever! Psalm 107

FIELD TRIP TO THE CHILDREN'S THEATER:
The children will travel to the Nashville children's theater on November 14th
Parents cannot go to the theater
The children will have lunch when they return.
Your child should wear their uniform to the theater
Please dress your child warmly for the field trip.
THANKSGIVING DAY FEAST:
The children will enjoy a Thanksgiving feast on Friday in the Eagle's Nest. Parents invited to attend. If you signed up to bring something for the feast please try to have it at school by 10:30. The children will have their feast at 11:05. This is their regular lunch time.
CLASSROOM REMINDERS:
FIRST/SECOND GRADE PLAY:
Here is what is needed for their costumes: A PLAIN yellow t-shirt (no writing, design or print-please see attachment, you can find these at places like Hobby Lobby) with either black or orange pants (Girls can choose to wear leggings or tights) We are asking you to send $5 for the costume head piece (Mark envelope for musical). Dark shoes or tennis shoes. They need their costume for "dress rehearsal/pictures" on November 27th., Tuesday. Please send costume to school that day.
