Week of September 24, 2018
Last week was an awesome week for the children. They truly enjoyed learning about the legend of Johnny Appleseed. Thanks for all that sent a special apple treat to school on Friday.
This week the children will be working on the following skills:
- Identify and generate rhymes
- Identify, decode, read, and spell words with the short /u/ sound
- Identify, read, and write contractions with 's
- Read and discuss the weekly Bible story "Abram Travels to a New Home"
- Be introduce to the weekly memory verse:"So Abram left, as the Lord had told him". Genesis 12:4
- Review and work addition number sentences and word problems
- Illustrate subtraction word problems
- Subtract using touch point by counting backward
- Subtract by using a number line
- Read and identify the main idea and details within the story.
- Continue to work on reviewing and learning sight words
- Continue to work on reading for comprehension and fluency
- Work with magnets and identify things that attract/repel to magnets
- Write a narrative about a special friend.

WEEKLY REMINDERS:
- Remind your child to read their AR book and return it back to school the next day. Your child should read at least 2 AR books a week.
- Continue to review all work your child brings home daily in their binder. Please sign your child's folder.
