Week of October 16, 2017
This will be a very busy week as we prepare to go to the pumpkin patch. The children will begin the week by reading and discussing stories about pumpkins and how they grow. Below are other skills that will be introduced or reviewed this week.
- Identifying, decoding, and reading words with the sound /th/, /sh/, and /ng/.
- Identify words that have closed syllables.
- Continue to work on understanding the sequence of a story.
- Continue to work on writing simple sentences using good letter formation and spacing.
- Read and discuss the Bible Story "Abraham's Servant Finds a Wife for Isaac. Genesis 24:1-67
- Continue to study about fire safety.
- The students will read the Story "Pumpkin, Pumpkin" and discuss the sequence of the story and do other fun activities with the story.
- Students will write narratives about pumpkins and autumn.
- Continue to work on reading data from a class graph.
- Continue to work on reading with fluency and understanding.
- Read work work addition and subtraction word problems.
- Subtract with number with the difference 10 or smaller.
- Add with the sum 10 or less
WEEKLY SPELLING WORDS: fish, ship, rush, thing, sang, crush, shop, mash, path, and math

CLASSROOM REMINDERS
- The children will go to Walden Farms (pumpkin patch) on Wednesday, October 18th. All parents are invited to come assist us on the field trip. The cost of the field trip will be $9.00 for adults and $7.00 for children. If you are planning on going to the pumpkin Farm please send $9.00 to school by Monday, October 16th. NO CHECKS PLEASE
Please remind your child to read their AR book. Your child should bring their AR book to school each time.
- It is important that your child continue to work on sight words and math facts regularly at home.
