Week of February 27, 2017
The children have been very busy preparing for their African American presentation that will be held this Friday at 8:15 in the Eagle's Nest.
This week the children will enjoy having guest coming in their class to read stories to them.
They will be working on the following skills this week:
- Identifying words and decode words with /ar/ sounds.
- Students will read sentences and stories with /ar/ words in them.
- Students will read stories about Frog and Toad
- Students will have phonemic drills on reversal and deletion of sounds within a word
- Read stories from the author Dr. Seuss
- Continue to learn how to tell time by the hour and half hour
- Students will be introduce to fractions: whole, 1/2, 1/3, and 1/4
- Continue to review addition and subtraction facts
- Word problems on lapse time, addition and subtraction
- Continue to work on reading for fluency when reading, comprehension skills, retelling and rewriting stories that they read
- Students will be introduce to irregular plurals

.CLASSROOM NOTES:
- All children will participate in the first grade African American Presentation. Children should come to school dressed as their famous African American. Your child should bring clothes to change in after the presentation. The presentation will be at 8;15 in the Eagle's Nest
- Your child should read books at home and record on their reading log in their binder. (This log sent home on Friday)
- There will not be a Catapult summer program this summer.
- This is Read Across American Week. Your child may wear the following attire:
Monday: Pajamas or comfy clothes (no leggings please)
Tuesday: Green Eggs and Ham Day - Wear green
Wednesday: Wacky Wednesday -Wear clothes backward, inside out, or mismatched.
Thursday: Cat In the Hat Day (Wear favorite hat)
Friday: Fox in Socks Day (Wear silly or mismatched socks)
If your chooses not to participate they must wear uniform.
