Week of January 4, 2016

       Happy New Year to all!  Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday.  We are so glad to be back in school.  We have missed each one of our students.
      This week we will be working on the following skills:

  • Reading words with long  /o/ and /u/ vowels with CVCe
  • Comparing and contrasting things from the past and now as the children read the following story: "Long Ago and Now" and "From Horse to Plane"
  • Read and discuss poems for winter
  • Discuss and write New Year Resolutions
  • Add and subtract two digit numbers
  • Work word problems with two digit numbers
  • Identifying and reading compound words
  • Begin a unit of study on weather
  • Write a narrative about living in a snow-globe
  • Continue to work on reading for fluency and understand

REMINDERS:
  • Continue to study words for spelling bee
  • The children will practice for the 1st/2nd grade program.  The program will be January 28th.
