The Beginning of a Fantastic Year in First Grade

Welcome to first grade.  We are very excited about the upcoming year.  The children appear to be adjusting well in first grade.
This week the children will continue to learn procedures and expectations of a first grader.  We will be assessing all students on reading and math skills.  It would be very helpful, if all students will begin to study their sight words that are in the daily binder.
In math, the children will review numbers from 1 to 20.  In social studies, the children will continue to learn about what makes each of them special. In Bible they will begin learning the books of the Old Testament.  Your child will make a special Bible to help him/her  better understand the parts of the Bible.

HOMEWORK:

  • Monday- Practice writing straight lines and circles on tablet paper and study sight words.
  • Tuesday- Practice writing first name on tablet paper and study sight words
  • Wednesday- Read for fun and study sight words.
  • Thursday- Write numbers 1 through 5 using touch points and study sight words.
  • Friday- Study sight words and read for fun.
